The interior design industry, like most professions, has its own ways of working and to operate effectively within this business it is essential to understand the fundamentals. Sheila Dunlop has been running her own interior design practice, Ivy House Interior Designers, for over 20 years and as Course Director she has a wealth of business experience to draw upon. As the only commercially based interior design school, our specialist training utilises this experience and is finely tuned to be practical and effective.
In this day and age, just being creative is no longer an option. Designers must have core business skills to work efficiently and to be able to survive financially within the business environment.
The objective of this extremely practical course is to provide a framework for your creative talents and turn them into a profitable business. The course content has been specifically tailored for Interior Designers and will be immediately applicable in your business, by helping you identify procedures and controls from monitoring cash flow and working out operating budgets.
Further, the course deals with fee structures, systems for invoicing and risk management, as well as producing accurate quotations and assessing profit margins.
Participants will work on practical projects addressing budgeting and specific quotations in order to be fully equipped with the core skills necessary to work to a client's budget and quote accurately.
The course also covers setting up in the trade, project management, marketing and establishing a client base, providing you with the necessary training and knowledge needed to work successfully within the interior design industry.
